Company Is Making Vegan Casein From Peas


Plant-based start-up Fooditive Group is utilizing peas through precision fermentation, to create vegan casein. 

This is with the end goal of eliminating industrial factory farming.

According to the corporation, it is the first vegan casein accessible for the food business.


How can it make vegan casein?

The Dutch firm uses innovation to re-make the same protein formula found in cow’s milk while being “animal-free.” It does this by duplicating the DNA of the beta-casein in cow’s milk.

Fooditive Group says the casein can be utilized to make vegan milk, cheddar cheese, yogurt, and meat.

Fooditive will carry out the vegan products in 2022 however has not yet affirmed a set date.
